To help those students who struggle with writing smoothly, maybe the teacher could allow them to record what they would like to write before doing the writing. Then they could stop and rewind the recording as they switch to the writing process. Just an idea :)","dateCreated":"1342702511","smartDate":"Jul 19, 2012","userCreated":{"username":"finc2073","url":"https:\/\/www.wikispaces.com\/user\/view\/finc2073","imageUrl":"https:\/\/ssl.wikicdn.com\/i\/user_none_lg.jpg"}},{"id":"55454436","body":"Sentence fluency can be more than simply "as you would speak it", especially at the high school level. One sentence must work with the next, as well as stand on its own. High school level papers should not be written conversationally--as they might be for the younger levels--but they still must sound good. One tip that I have heard and used in college classes is to read your paper before it is submitted. That way, it's easier to catch clumsy phrases and awkward sentences.
